Here is how auditions work...
Vocal range - We'll start by having you sing an ascending and descending scale to test your vocal range. You can sing this on any syllable you'd like.
Tonal memory - We'll play a series of notes, and we'll have you sing them back to us. We will play this for you up to three times, and then we'll have you sing it on your own.
Sight reading - We'll give you a sheet of music (about 4 measures) and, after giving you the starting note and giving you some time to look over it, see how well you can sight read.
Solo - This is the part of the audition that YOU control! Choose any song you'd like, any style, and sing us a verse and chorus. Choose a song that fits your voice, and shows off your range AND personality! This is your chance to show us everything you've got!!
We try to make our audition process as painless as possible. We know that nerves can get to you, so we always take that into consideration. When you come into your audition, the best possible way to get us to remember you from the other auditionees is to simply BE YOURSELF! We can't express this enough! You'll only get a short amount of time (5 - 7min) to show us what you've got, so relax and show us who you are!
